Designed by Gollins, Melvin, Ward & Partners and opened in 1966, this Grade II* listed icon is one of the tallest university buildings in the UK. A masterpiece of the International Style, it is world-famous for housing the largest surviving Paternoster lift—a continuously moving "hop-on, hop-off" elevator that has thrilled and terrified generations of students. It is the ultimate keepsake for University of Sheffield alumni and lovers of Mid-Century Modernism.
