Opened by the Queen in 1962, this Grade II listed landmark is the crown jewel of the city's remarkable and beautifully executed post-war reconstruction. Designed by Jellicoe, Ballantyne & Coleridge, it is famous for its 14-storey tower and the distinctive "butterfly" roof of the Council House.
